With an eye for award-winning architectural design and a dedication to precise craftsmanship, AMCAL is creating modern and elegantly appointed condominiums at Puerta del Sol to
meet your family’s requirements for everyday
comfort and convenience. As part of the Avenue
26 station master development, the neighborhood
plan also calls for beautified sidewalks and new
local businesses to enliven the friendliness and
local prosperity that originally inspired the growth
of the unique, historical community of Lincoln
Heights.
In addition to Puerta del Sol, within the Avenue 26 station residential community master plan, AMCAL is also building senior apartments at Camino del Oro and family apartments at Tesoro del Valle. Another family apartment complex, Flores del Valle, is also being built as part of the Avenue 26 community. Together, these four landmark projects comprise one of the largest transportation-oriented developments in California.

Lincoln Heights: Rich in History and Heritage
An exciting renaissance
is currently underway in Lincoln Heights and Puerta del Sol, together
with the entire Avenue 26 development, are at the heart of
city plans for the rediscovery of this vibrant community. First
known as East Los Angeles, Lincoln Heights has a rich and illustrious
history. Early pioneering settlements began in the 1880s when
German and Irish immigrants used the area for grazing sheep.
However, thanks to an enterprising street car system, by 1910
the area had evolved into a fashionable residential neighborhood
and, interestingly enough, one of the southland’s first
suburbs. In 1914, with the construction of Lincoln High School,
the name was changed to a more prestigious-sounding Lincoln
Heights.
Over
the years, the area produced a number of colorful attractions.
Conveniently served by US Route 99, thousands of visitors
motored their way to Lincoln Heights, making the rounds of
the once-famous ostrich and alligator farms, the Selig Zoo
and Movie Studio (where the first Tarzan movie was made),
and Lincoln Park Stadium. Although the area has evolved over
the decades, and the wild animals and movies are gone, vestiges
of its late 19 th and early 20 th century prominence remain
in the area’s many examples of Victorian, Craftsman
and Bungalow architecture.
